Day 1: Arrival into Mizoram – Arrival at Lengpui Airport (AJL)
After arrival, drive to the resort (approx. 3 hours). Accommodation is basic, with attached toilets. – If time permits, we can bird around Sailam (a 30-minute drive away) for some initial birdwatching.
Day 2: Sailam – Sangau – Phawngpui National Park
Pre-breakfast birding at Sailam – Look for Spot-breasted & Blue-winged Laughingthrushes, Brown-crowned Scimitar-Babbler, Grey Sibia, Red-faced Liocichla, and Spot-throated Babbler. – After breakfast, drive to Sangau (base for *Phawngpui National Park), a journey of about 8 hours. – Overnight stay at resort.
Day 3 – 5: Thaltlang – Phawngpui National Park
After breakfast, drive to Thaltlang, our base for Phawngpui National park (approx. 2-3 hours drive).
– Key targets: Dark-rumped Swift, Spot-breasted Scimitar-Babbler, Assam Laughingthrush, Chin Hills Wren-Babbler, and Mount Victoria Babax.
– Supporting species include: Mountain Bamboo-Partridge, Stripe-breasted Woodpecker, Hume’s Treecreeper, Striped Laughingthrush, Rufous-crowned Prinia,Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Chestnut-flanked White-eye, and Buff-throated Warbler.
– Evening birding in the area.
– Overnight at resort.
Day 6: Phawngpui – Lengpui
– Pre-breakfast birding: Target lower elevation species such as White-cheeked Partridge, Buff-breasted Babbler, Buff-chested Babbler, Large Scimitar-Babbler, Blyth’s Paradise-Flycatcher, Pale-chinned Flycatcher, and Yellow-vented Flowerpecker.
– After breakfast, drive back to **Lengpui.
– Overnight stay at resort.
Day 7: Lengpui – Departure
– Early morning birding around *resort.
– After breakfast, head to *Lengpui Airport for departure.
– End of tour.
